Your National Forest - USE IT OR LOSE IT

A program by members of the El Dorado Rod and Gun Club

This program is to promote responsible use of National Forest and other Public Lands for recreational shooting. They do so by going to shooting areas and cleaning up after irresponsible shooters and leaving signs to Please Leave It NRA Klean. Major thanks to Steve Morgan for organizing this forest clean-up program.

Learn where you can go shooting in the Eldorado National Forest. Help keep everyone's secret shooting places free of illegal dumping and open for recreational shooting. Bring your gloves, lunches, drinks, and tools will be provided. We are usually done by 2pm, two trucks are needed to go to the dump. You are welcome to stay and shoot targets (NOT TREES) in the shade.

A cooperative project of the El Dorado NRA ILA Members Council, the El Dorado Rod & Gun Club, the National Rifle Association, and the US Department of Agriculture, Forest Service.

Areas of the forest cleaned up in past PLINK's include: Ferrari Mill Road, the overused area off Mormon Emigrant Trail on the Blue Gouge Mine road, and four shooting areas off of Bonnetti Road.

On June 4, 2007 Steve Morgan our P.L.I.N.K. leader received this letter from the United States Department of the Interior and the certificate shown.

Dear Mr. Morgan,

Take Pride in America continues to work diligently to promote national volunteerism and stewardship of public lands. The fruit of this labor is the honor of recognizing such outstanding individuals as yourself for your exceptional dedication. This year, your efforts were noticed and nominated for the 2007 Take Pride National Award. We were thrilled to receive word of yours and so many outstanding volunteer efforts across the country.

Though your were not selected as a National Award winner for 2007, it does not diminish the profound impact your contributions have made on our public lands. I would like to recognize your commitment to the improvement and enhancement of our public lands with a Take Pride Appreciation Certificate (pictured). I hope it demonstrates our sincere appreciation for your continued selflessness.

You have accomplished much in the past year; your achievements have not gone unnoticed. Please continue to exemplify our motto: “It’s your land, lend a hand!”

Sincerely,
Heather Roebke
Executive Director

Take Pride in America encourages individuals to take a more active role by volunteering… “It’s your land, lend a hand.”
